How long have you been doing this?
I've been exhibiting as a printmaker at arts and craft fairs all around the southern & midwestern US since 2009. I've been a full-time printmaker since 2016. I've been self-identifying as an artist since 1991!
Did you go to school to learn your trade?
I did! I took my first printmaking class at the University of Kentucky, under the tutelage of Derrick Riley of dRock Press. I later went on to get an MFA through the University of Cincinnati's DAAP program, taking another printmaking course there. Experience is the best teacher, though! Hours and hours of practice taught me, too.
Do you have your own press?
Yes! It's a Richeson Medium Etching Press.
What kinds of tools do you use and where do you get them?
I use a variety of carving tools. My faves are Pfeil Swiss Made palm tools. You can find them on Amazon or Woodcraft. I also like to use Flexcut Microtools, which can also be found on Amazon and Woodcraft. These can be pretty pricey, so I recommend starting with the Speedball beginner's set, which has several different gouge heads that you can switch out. I used these for years before upgrading to my Pfeil and Flexcut sets.
What kind of ink do you use and where do you get it?
My favorite ink is Cranfield Colors Safe Wash Relief Inks, which I get at Blick. They come in a wide range of beautiful pigments and clean up easily with soap and water. I also love to use Gamblin Relief Ink, especially Portland Intense Black - I also get that at Blick. I use this cobalt drier as an additive to my ink to accelerate the drying time.
Where do you get your paper?
I use a variety of papers from Blick Art Materials and Binders Art Supplies and Frames
How can I learn to do what you do?
Take a class at your local community art center or search for local printmaking Co-Ops or collectives. Many colleges and universities offer classes to non-students throughout the summer. Or teach yourself and grab a copy of my book, Block Print Magic!
Do you ever teach any classes?
I am available to teach workshops in the Atlanta, Georgia area. If you'd like to hire me to teach a workshop, contact me via email!
Do you have this in a smaller size?
No, sorry! Everything I print is made from hand-carved linoleum blocks so everything is one-size-only :)

I get requests concerning tattoos all the time, so I thought it was high time to lay out my policy. First of all, I’m deeply honored any time someone wants my work permanently inked into their flesh. I’m floored. I love it.
Requirements if you want my work on you:
CUSTOM TATTOO DESIGN If CUSTOM tattoo design is what you’re after, I’ll be opening up my schedule to take on a limited number of paid commissions in 2022 :) If you'd like me to design a tattoo for you, please send me an email with the following:
